It depends on the channel: Hostelworld states cash on arrival, while Booking.com also shows cards. Palomino has very few ATMs, so bring cash.

Frequently asked questions
How do I book?
There are two ways. Direct: fill in the inquiry form and we open WhatsApp with a ready-made message; the team replies with availability and rate, and your stay is only confirmed when they confirm it. Or through a platform: book on Hostelworld or Booking.com under each site’s terms.
What types of accommodation are there?
A double room with private bathroom, two family rooms with private bathroom (double bed and bunk bed, up to 4 people) and beds in a mixed 8-bed dorm with shared bathrooms.
How far is the beach?
About 1.1–1.2 km away, roughly a 15-minute walk. We are not on the seafront: we are a quiet garden near the village centre, away from the beach-party noise.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, free. Keep in mind that power and internet in Palomino are sometimes unreliable.
Can I cook my own food?
Yes. The kitchen is shared and has a fridge, stove, pots and utensils.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, at no extra charge according to Booking.com. Please let us know before you arrive.
Is there parking?
Yes, private and free, but it has to be reserved in advance.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 13:00 and check-out before 11:00. If you will arrive late, message us: the platforms give a limit between 21:00 and 22:00.
How do I get to Palomino?
Buses leave Santa Marta from the market area along the Troncal del Caribe coast road; the ride takes about two hours. There are also buses from Riohacha’s terminal. Get off on Palomino’s main road: the hostel is a few blocks from the stop. The nearest airports are Santa Marta and Riohacha, both about 90 km away.
Can you help me plan activities?
Of course. Ask us about river tubing, the beach, the Sierra or the nearby streams and we will tell you how to arrange it. Tours are run by third parties: we point you in the right direction, we do not sell them.
Is breakfast included?
It depends on the channel and the rate. The Booking.com rates we saw included it, but it is not the same on every platform. Please confirm when you book.
Is there air conditioning?
It is not advertised. Rooms have a fan and a mosquito net, and the house is built around the breeze and the garden’s shade.
